Story Time!!!

So, yesterday I spent the day in Fargo with a couple of my best friends. We went shopping, pretended to be America's Next Top Model's in the dressing rooms, ate, took tons of pictures, and even caught a late movie. All in all, a great day. Well! When we got out of the movie, it was a down pour outside. We were caught in the thick of a very severe thunderstorm. Driving home was nearly impossible, with how wet the roads were, the glare of street lights, and random flashes of lightning, it was very hard to see the lines on the road. We had to pull over a couple of times just because I didn't feel comfortable driving under the conditions. We finally made it back to DL and I was on my way to dropping my friends off at home. We started driving through what appeared to be a puddle as we went around the curve, and as we reached the otherside of the curve, we realized that this was not a puddle, but in fact, the road had flooded. I was too far in to just back out of it, and without knowing how deep it was or how my car would handle it, we decided to park...yep...right in the middle of the flooded road. I put my hazards on and we all called our parents to let them know what was up. We were sitting there, amazed that the highway had flooded (this kind of stuff NEVER happens in DL) for about a half hour until the cop showed up to assist. Only one came because the was a gas leak right next to a lightning strike across town (near my house actually) and they were evacuating that neighborhood. The cop was able to push my car out, and while my bro drove it home, my mom and I dropped off my friends...randomly having to change routes due to more flooding. As we drove home, we saw where the lightning struck...a tree was on fire!! We got home safely. What a day, huh?

Leaving on a jet plane...sorta

"All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go..."

I have hit the point in my summer where I am sick of summer. (This always happens in August) I have all my stuff packed up for my move, and I seriously just want to get to school.

Now, I know all of the arguements you could make as to why I wouldn't want to leave; my family is here, all my friends are, there's a college in DL so why go somewhere else? Well, I have counter-arguements for these. First, yes my family is here... but not really. My sister lives in North Dakota, my brother lives in Florida, my parents live in DL (obviously) but with our combined work/school schedules, we barely get to spend time together anymore. My friends will be missed terribly, but making new friends is half the fun of going to college. I've been told that the people you meet at college turn out to be some of your best life-long friends. And finally, yes there is a tech college in DL, but what fun is it to be out on your own, but still in a safety-net (so to speak) by staying in a town where you know everyone and everything. I want to see new places and meet new people.

9 days to go.

Cruel Mistress

Recently there has been expression of jealousy and requests to see my Flogging Molly t-shirt. Click on the title to view it. If you want one for yourself, I suggest going to Hot Topic, b/c that's where I bought mine.

Lucky Girl

This is my sister Nicki (24), my Great Grandma Maxine (91) and myself (18) hanging out on thursday morning. It was so good to see her! She lives about 5 and a half hours away, so we don't get to see her that much, and we know that we don't have much time left with her. The funny thing is, she's still as spunky as ever! She doesn't like using her walker because it makes her look old, if she's bored she bakes pies, and she claims that she has never once gone to the doctor with perfect hair! I love that woman! I'm so lucky to have had so much time with her (almost 19 years)Please pray for her health which hasn't been the greatest lately.
