Every great writer has "their thing". For Edgar Alan Poe, it was his stanzas with a unique style of rhythm and rhyming. For T.S. Elliot, it was his opaque discriptions of things. The infamous Conan Doyle gave his characters power by the use of logic. Some writers simply have a phrase that they are known for. Shakepeare had several; "All's well that ends well," or "Parting is such sweet sorrow". The more recent Lemmony Snicket uses the phrase "With all due respect," in all his works. Since I am all of a poet, a playwrite, and a story teller, I thought it impossible to discover "my thing" when my literary prose is so diverse. But I too have discovered "my thing"...by accident really. And it happened right here on my blog. I have found my phrase, one which I use quite often. I realized right away, of course, that it would work for whatever I was writing or in the thought thereof. And as I can see I have used up your time, I will end this. With the thought of a tear in my eye; Stephanie Teig.
