Fat Tuesday

Well, it's here again, that's right..Lent. A time when Christ went into the desert, fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, was crucified, died, and rose again. Or, in my school, it's a time when all the protestant kids tease us Catholics for not eating meat, giving up things, and fasting. Anywho, this year, I've decided to give up two of my favorite things...pop and chocolate. Now, I know my protestant friends who just don't understand why we Catholics do this will try to tempt me with these things...just like Satan did...(did anyone else realize that I just compared protestants to Satan?) Anywho...enjoy Fat Tuesday, and don't give in to temptation during Lent.

Thank the Irish!!!!

True Story....

So, as I have mentioned before, my house was under construction (new siding, windows, trim, rock work, ect...) and we still haven't gotten everything finished yet, just little things left like the outside lights, the key pad to open the garage door, and the doorbell...no big deal, right? WRONG! I came home from school today and was locked out!!!! My dad had used my spare set of keys to warm up my car this morning, so I didn't have my house keys with me. So, I figured I'd just get the extra key from the garage...wait, no, there's no key pad, and our garage does not open manualy...so, what do I do? That's right, I'm trudgin' around to the back of my house in knee hip deep snow (not even joking) and I check the back door...locked....at this time I was considering hangin' out with my neighbor, Kathy (who was out shoveling her driveway) when I remembered that we had also put a patio door in with all the construction, so I trudge over through knee deep snow to that....could it be? YES!!!!! My dad had left it unlocked!!!! I was saved from the cold!!!!! And the hip-knee deep snow!!!!!!! I don't ever want to do that again. Now, how does this tie in with the title? Well, when we got the patio door, my dad liked to joke that an irishman moved into that room, and his name was Patty O'Dor.

Doctor says...what?

So, I went to see the doctor today, and she gave me a perscription for an inhaler and told me to drink some tea with lemon...little does she know that tea is like my favorite beverage in the winter, and I was already drinking it all the time, more so than usual lately because it felt good on my throat...I love that doctor!

befuddled

As you may know, I've been "sick" with something like a cold for about 5 months now. Some days, like today, I just feel like crap, my throat hurts, I feel sick to my stomach, I have no energy, but I'm not actually sick. I don't have a temp, I'm not dehydrated...believe me, the only thing I can think of is sleep deprivation and a common cold. But for 5 months?!?! I don't know anymore.

Queen of Hearts

In the spirit of St. Valentine's Day, which is coming up shortly, my school invented a little game. Today was round 1, where all the girls in the school were given hearts to wear around their necks, and if they talked to a boy at all during the day (unless it was for a class and talking was necessary) the girl had to give that boy her heart. The goal is to keep your heart all day and then you get a free bag of cookies, or if you're a guy, to get as many hearts as possible! It was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I have a lot of guy friends who were out to get me today, trying to bribe me with hugs and phone numbers. In the end, I prevailed. Tomorrow is round 2, where the guys aren't allowed to talk to the girls, and the girls have to get as many hearts as they can. I plan on being the queen of hearts...and Tay...I'm warning you now...payback sucks.

A Q-tip won't help at a time like this!

So...as you have probably all heard by now, I went to a Nickelback concert last night...and it rocked! However, as you may not know...big stadium concerts tend to leave an unpleasant ringing in your ears. Not a distinct ringing either, more like a "I've got wax build-up and can't hear correctly" kind of ringing...sadly, a Q-tip won't help at a time like this. This ringing lasts for about 12 hours...and as much as I hate to say it, I was kinda deaf today...stupid great tickets that put me right up there so that the speakers could inflict permenant damage on me. I would totally do it all again too!
